My goal as a music and piano teacher is to help my students develop:
- Confidence to sit down and improvise without the crutch of sheet music
- Confidence as a listener to be able to translate what they hear to the keys on the piano
- Confidence as a reader to sit down with sheet music and be able to pick it out
- Confidence in their own creativity and ability to use music as a language
- Appreciation for many different styles of music
As you can see, there is a common denominator! It is very important to me as a teacher that piano lessons are not just about the piano, but about building confidence as a musician, using piano as a medium.
