Preschool Piano

Getting an early start in music lessons can help your child in many ways! Studies have shown that exposure to musical activities at a young age can increase brain plasticity, and improve attention, sequencing skills, language and literary skills, and auditory processing.

I offer three types of lessons to 3-5 year old students:

  1. Mini Musicians: 45-minute group classes each week in classes of 3-6 students
  2. Buddy Lessons: 50 minutes each week with a partner
  3. Solo Lessons: 30 or 45 minutes each week

Mini Musicians One:

The Mini Musicians program is the perfect introduction to music lessons for your child. This is a no-pressure, no-practice curriculum where we explore music and the piano through improvisation, songs and games. In Mini Musicians One, preschoolers learn to explore sounds, listen actively and move to music. They also get introduced to the piano keys, develop reading skills and learn about rhythm notation.

You do not need a piano at home for your child to take part in Mini Musicians One. It is beneficial to have instruments for them to experiment on but this could be bells, a glockenspiel or a toy keyboard. Students in Mini Musicians will not have practice assignments but will benefit from trying the fingerplay rhymes and listening to music we’re covering in class between lessons.

Preschool Buddy Lessons:

Buddy lessons are a great option for those of you who want more focused attention on your child, and are ready to commit to some at-home practice. Students spend a portion of the lesson time in a 1:1 lesson with the teacher, and another portion paired up with a partner for interactive ensemble activities and fun games!

Preschool Solo Lessons:

Solo lessons are for families who want the fastest possible progress for their child and are ready to commit to daily practice at home. 30-minute lessons may seem like too much for a wiggly preschooler, but my lessons for this age group are packed with movement and games to keep things fun and interesting! Solo lessons are a great fit for a child who needs the teacher’s undivided attention or special accommodations.
