Piano for Children

Whether a young student’s lesson goals are to be in a band, write songs, learn the basics of piano perhaps as a gateway to the instrument they actually want to play, or just plain please their parents, my goal is to build a great foundation in music through well-rounded, fun, and creative piano lessons.

I offer two types of lessons to children ages 6 and up:

  1. Buddy Lessons
  2. Solo Lessons

Buddy Lessons

Buddy lessons are weekly partnered piano lessons, where students are paired up with another student and receive both 1:1 and group time with their partner. There are two lesson lengths for buddy lessons for students ages 6 and up:

60 minutes (30 minutes one-on-one + 30 minutes buddy time)

70 minutes (40 minutes one-on-one + 30 minutes buddy time)

Buddy time is a wonderful opportunity for developing listening and collaborative skills through ensemble playing. It is also a slightly more laid back approach to piano lessons with more interactive games and activities. Students enrolled in buddy lessons are expected to put in practice time at home.

Depending on whether I have another student on my waitlist who is looking for buddy lessons, I may be able to match your child with another student. If you have a friend who would like to start lessons at the same time as your child, you can both register for buddy lessons.

Solo Lessons

Solo lessons are for families who want the fastest possible progress for their child and are ready to commit to daily practice at home. There are three lesson lengths for solo lessons for students ages 6 and up: 45-minutes, 60-minutes, or 75-minutes. You can also opt for 90-minutes every other week if I can find another student to take your opposite weeks.
